THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL DEODORANT AND ANTIPERSPIRANT
Choosing between deodorant and antiperspirant. It should be noted that antiperspirant is a type of deodorant, a product that generally helps neutralise unpleasant perspiration odour. In practice, both deodorant and antiperspirant have the same objective, the means by which they achieve this, however, are completely different.
Foreword: sweat has no smell, it is bacteria that emit unpleasant odours when they come into contact with it.
Traditional deodorant limits the smell of sweat, often covering it with fragrance and, in some cases, using alcohol for its antibacterial action. In this way, body odour is limited.
On the other hand, antiperspirant works by controlling the output of sweat glands and, consequently, reducing sweat. The result is an environment with less humidity, making it difficult for bacteria to live and reproduce in order that no bad smell will be generated. The action of antiperspirants is therefore twofold:
1) It limits the production of sweat in the armpit area.
2) It reduces the formation of unpleasant odours, allowing us feel to fresh all day long.
What about aluminium salts?
Two international authorities have intervened in recent years to protect consumer health. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration and in Europe, the European Scientific Committee for Consumer Safety, have collected studies and clinical evidence on the safety of aluminium salts.
Based on the data collected, they concluded that aluminium salts are absolutely safe for people’s health and can be used in antiperspirant deodorants. In the interests of safety, the American and European authorities have laid down limits on the amount of aluminium salts that can be used in cosmetics.
Everydeo complies with the standards laid down in European cosmetics regulations.
