What are ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs are hairs that, in the regrowth phase, cannot escape from the surface of the skin, bend and remain trapped under the stratum corneum.
The hair, trapped or encysted, continues to grow under the skin and gives rise to the formation of a pustule, a small abscess or a cyst. Ingrown hairs inflame the follicle and, in more serious cases, can cause folliculitis.

What do ingrown hairs look like?

To prevent the formation of ingrowing hairs, it is advisable to use Glicosal Lotion, which works by thinning the stratum corneum, thus making the skin less resistant to the shedding of hair. In this way the hair is not able to become embedded in the skin or encysted.

How to prevent ingrown hairs

Days one to three:

  • apply Soothing Cream immediately after shaving/epilation and repeat the application once a day for the following 3 days. This operation is important to reverse the inflammatory state of the skin following the depilatory treatment;
  • From day four: Apply Glicosal Lotion to the shaved area every evening and continue for the next ten to fifteen days, the average hair regrowth time. Glicosal Lotion helps to thin the stratum corneum layer making it easier for hair to emerge during regrowth and reducing the risk of ingrown hairs.
  • From day ten to fifteen: Once hair has reemerged and can be easily felt to the touch, discontinue use of Glicosal Lotion.

Repeat this procedure whenever epilating or removing hair.

How to treat ingrown underarm hair

In the event of ingrown hairs already present with related inflammatory reaction, it is recommended to proceed with a different treatment, apply Crema 2S in a small quantity every evening and massage abundantly until completely absorbed.
Continue treatment until the inflammation goes out.
