What is perioral dermatitis?
Perioral dermatitis causes erythematous papules and, in some cases, folliculitis or furuncles. It is called Perioral Dermatitis because of the typical rash that develops drawing a sort of ring around the mouth. It affects young women very frequently, is more sporadic in adolescence and is definitely rare in the male gender.
What are the causes of perioral dermatitis?
It has no known cause, sometimes arising after the use of cortisone, which, however, should not be used for treatment. Perioral dermatitis has a tendency toward chronicity with periods of exacerbation alternating with others of apparent remission. Triggering factors include:
- Use of creams with cortiosne or nasobuccal inhalations of cortisone
- Use of non-breathable, film-forming cosmetics (e.g. petroleum jelly or silicone)
- Use of serums and balms with essential oils
- Use of heavy sunscreen
- Use of toothpaste containing fluoride
- Excess salivation
- Birth control pill

How to treat perioral dermatitis
For the treatment of perioral dermatitis, it is recommended to consult your dermatologist. As a cosmetic adjunct to the treatment of the symptoms of perioral dermatitis we recommend:
- In the evening, apply 2S Cream, in a hazelnut-sized amount, by massaging until absorbed, to the area affected by perioral dermatitis.

CLEANSING
For face washing and makeup removal, we recommend Eudermic Cleansing Base as a gentle cleanser.

MAKE-UP
For make-up we recommend a mineral make-up such as Argillina Skin Color, a very breathable foundation and Argillina Sole, a mineral compact powder.
